nation cleared them, then fine, but failure could mean imprisonment. The manager, seeing everyone wavering, rushed forward and said, "Third Miss, I am Lady’s man; you have no right to dismiss me."Ye Li...The Wrath of a Noble for His Beauty

Huo Lian Peng saw that Qilin had arrived and, knowing he was seriously injured himself and wouldn't be able to gain any advantage today, shouted to retreat before flying off the mountain ravine without caring about his subordinates left behind. With Qilin's arrival, it didn't take much effort for everyone else to deal with these people.

Qin Feng looked in the direction of Huo Lian Peng and said regretfully, "It’s a pity that Huo Lian Peng managed to escape."

Ling Han, who was following him, glanced at those North Rong soldiers who were either dead or injured and remarked, "Huo Lian Peng is ruthless. He ordered so many people to throw their lives away without any hesitation." In the past few days, there had been dozens of such people, and today it was a hundred more that Huo Lian Peng casually threw into battle with no care for them at all. It should be noted that these were not ordinary North Rong soldiers, but specially trained ones. Even if Huo Lian Peng himself was a masterful warrior, there wouldn’t be many like him. From this perspective alone, one could see the difference in how Ye Li and Huo Lian Peng treated their subordinates. Since Qilin’s formation, there had only been less than two hundred deaths or injuries over several years, while Huo Lian Peng casually dispatched dozens of specially trained soldiers at a time. Clearly, Huo Lian Peng didn’t regard them as valuable assets or even as his own subordinates. They were merely high-level cannon fodder.

Zhuo Jing, who was closest and saw the events most clearly, said in a deep voice, "Even if he couldn't kill him, Huo Lian Peng probably won’t be able to act for one or two months. My lady, should we send someone after—"

Ye Li shook her head. “Huo Lian Peng’s martial skills aren’t weak; even though they might not match the Prince's, he shouldn't be inferior to Ren Qi Ning either. Besides, as a North Rong General, he must have people guarding him now that he is injured. There would be no point in sending someone to die for nothing. Let's go to Lingiu Mountain first."

"Yes, my lady," the others echoed obediently, leaving some behind to clear the battlefield while accompanying Ye Li towards Lingiu Mountain.

Murong Xiuyao could not hide from Ye Li’s encounter with Huo Lian Peng. Although Ye Li was unharmed, Murong Xiuyao's face darkened considerably. Even Feng Zhirao and Han Mingchi, who usually spoke the most, didn’t dare to say anything out of fear of provoking him into anger. Seeing Murong Xiuyao leave the encampment with a gloomy expression after picking up his sword named ‘Fumen’, both Feng Zhirao and Han Mingchi were dumbfounded. After some time, Han Mingchi asked in confusion, "Where is he going"

Feng Zhirao blinked his eyes jokingly, "Is he really planning to kill Huo Lian Peng"

Sitting beside him, Han Mingyue nodded and said, “He’s definitely going there to kill Huo Lian Peng; perhaps even Ye Liye and Huo Lianzhen too.” Although Feng Zhirao no longer trusted Han Mingyue, he still had some confidence in his abilities. If not for Su Zhui Die, how would Han Mingyue have ended up here Hearing this, Feng Zhirao instantly jumped up, shouting in alarm, "Is he crazy With hundreds of thousands of troops, if a single man could exterminate all the North Rong armies, why bother with war"

Murong Xiuyao’s martial skills might be unparalleled and he might be able to defeat ten or even a hundred men at once, but could he possibly take on a thousand or ten thousand alone Feng Zhirao only had two words for him: suicide!

After being stunned for a moment, Feng Zhirao finally sprang up, shouting as he rushed outside, "Murong Xiuyao, I must have owed you something in my previous life. Come here! Gather the troops!"

In the tent, only Han Mingchi and his brother were left. Looking at Han Mingyue with disbelief, Han Mingchi asked, “Brother, is Murong Xiuyao really planning to kill Huo Lian Peng” Even if they wanted to kill him, it didn't require entering the North Rong encampment. They could wait for an opportunity when Huo Lianpeng was alone or outside.

Han Mingyue said with a bitter smile, "Could Ding Wang (Prince) not think of this"

“Why does he do this” Han Mingchi was puzzled.

"After today, as long as Murong Xiuyao isn't dead, there might truly be no one who would dare to lay a finger on Ye Li," Han Mingyue sighed. He once thought that he had deeply loved Su Zhui Die and even secretly believed that Murong Xiuyao didn’t understand love. Only now did he realize that Murong Xiuyao wasn't ignorant of it; he just hadn't met the right person. What Murong Xiuyao has done for Ye Li, Han Mingyue admitted to himself that he couldn’t do. Patted his brother’s shoulder, who was still in a daze, Han Mingyue left.

In the tent, Han Mingchi remained silent for some time before smiling bitterly and feeling somewhat relieved. There were things that Murong Xiuyao could do but he never would be able to. It wasn't about capability, but nature. He could never do something like this for someone even if he… loved her.

This day was unforgettable for all the North Rong soldiers. Of course, only if they had eternity to remember it.

As there hadn’t been any battles in recent days, the North Rong encampment had become unusually peaceful. But just as everyone was enjoying this calmness, a silver-haired man in white clothes appeared like a cloud outside the entrance of the encampment, startling all the soldiers on duty.

Before they could react, Murong Xiuyao rushed into the camp and headed towards the main tent while taking advantage of their shock. With his supreme kung fu skills and sword named ‘Fumen’, he left a trail of corpses behind him as his sword swept through them with killing intent that chilled everyone’s blood. Even those unfortunate enough to be beneath his feet were killed by the power of his step.

The camp was immediately thrown into chaos, soldiers rushing towards Murong Xiuyao from all directions. Those who had recovered their senses aimed at him but how could they hit a man flying through the air Moreover, once he landed on the ground, it would be hard to tell whether they were shooting at him or fellow soldiers.

Within moments, a white figure cut through the encampment like lightning, leaving rivers of blood in its wake. No one could survive under his sword; every swing brought forth splashes of crimson. Even the famous North Rong soldiers felt fear as they watched this display of power and feared that if they got too close, there would be no escape from death.

The commotion inside the camp was so loud that Ye Liye, who sat in the center tent, couldn’t help but notice. Angered by Huo Lian Peng’s return injured earlier, he was even more furious when hearing this sudden disturbance outside. As soldiers rushed to report someone had intruded, Ye Liye sneered coldly and said, “Let's see what kind of person would dare to invade the North Rong camp.” Leading Huo Lianzhen and wounded Huo Lian Peng out, he saw Murong Xiuyao in white clothes carrying his sword ‘Fumen’. The ancient sword glinted with blood as its aura of killing intent rose.

"Murong Xiuyao!"

Ye Liye was both surprised and enraged. He couldn't understand why this demon would come to the North Rong camp at such a time Could it be that Murong Xiuyao suddenly thought that killing him could end the war

Anyone who had some sense knew that wars between countries weren’t solved by merely eliminating one or two commanders. Moreover, assassinating a general was extremely difficult. How could he guarantee his own survival even if he killed Ye Liye

Murong Xiuyao saw Ye Liye and Huo Lianzhen as well while sweeping through the camp. He smiled coldly before swinging his sword towards them.

Seeing that blood-red glint in the sword, Ye Liye’s face changed slightly. "Fumen"

Huo Lianzhen beside him was black with rage at being intruded upon and not having the chance to kill Murong Xiuyao. With a cold snort, he unsheathed his longsword and charged back towards Murong Xiuyao. Ye Liye had the same thoughts as Huo Lianzhen; seeing him attack, he also drew his sword and rushed over without hesitation. If they could keep this person here, it would be an immense benefit to North Rong. Moreover, if they managed to kill him… his position in the court of Northern Rong would become unshakable.

"Mo Xiuyao, how dare you be so bold and act as if no one is above you!" Ye Liye spoke coldly. Seeing the two attack, Mo Xiuyao did not respond but gave a cold smile instead. His long sword sliced through the air like a beam of light, releasing a frigid aura.

Helian Peng was already injured and merely stood by watching. Upon seeing Helian Zhen and Ye Liye engage with Mo Xiuyao, he knew they had no chance of winning. The disparity in skill between Mo Xiuyao and the other two was too great. Not only could they not compete with him; they couldn’t even be mentioned in the same breath as him. Looking down at his injured arm, Helian Peng then thought about that fair-faced white-clad woman who resembled a snow mountain goddess. A coldness flashed across his eyes before he gestured to a nearby guard and gave some low instructions. The guard nodded and left.

Seeing Helian Zhen and Ye Liye struggling against him, Mo Xiuyao sneered. Glancing at Helian Zhen, he swung his sword without hesitation, showing no mercy whatsoever. Upon seeing the overwhelming force of the attack coming towards him, Helian Zhen knew he had no chance to withstand it. However, since Mo Xiuyao only focused on him and ignored Ye Liye, there was nowhere for him to hide. He could only raise his long sword to block.

With a loud boom, the heavy broadsword shattered into pieces. Without pausing, Mo Xiuyao’s Flaming Destruction Sword continued its path towards Helian Zhen’s forehead. As he watched the renowned general of Northern Rong, who had once been at his mercy eighteen years ago and was now trying to make a comeback, about to meet his end under the blade, Mo Xiuyao sneered cruelly.

"Go to hell!"

“Bang—"

Though it seemed slow, everything happened in an instant. Another broadsword intercepted Mo Xiuyao’s attack, while Helian Zhen was pulled aside by Ye Liye. Though they narrowly avoided death, everyone present was still shaken.

Holding a large golden saber in his hand, Helian Peng could only stare at the two halves of the broken blade and shake uncontrollably. Even the bandage on his injured arm had been ripped open due to the force he exerted.

Mo Xiuyao looked down at his sword with an indifferent expression. After a while, he raised his head and said coldly, “Impressive skills, are you a disciple of Murong Xiong” If Helian Peng hadn’t spoken, Ye Li wouldn’t have recognized him either; however, Mo Xiuyao could see through his techniques after just one encounter. He sneered, "Guess I wasn’t wrong about killing Murong Xiong."

Helian Peng was clearly uninterested in the fact that Mo Xiuyao was the murderer of his master. Holding a short sword, he said calmly, “I am no match for the Prince Dingwang. What are you trying to accomplish today”

“What do I want" Mo Xiuyao looked at him with an odd smile and said, "Don’t you know what the prince wants"

Releasing Helian Zhen, Ye Liye stood beside Helian Peng and said calmly, “Mo Xiuyao, don’t think that because of your superior skills I will be afraid of you. I refuse to believe that just one person can withstand my army!”

With a cold laugh, Mo Xiuyao said, "If you don’t know already, let me tell you—anyone who dares harm Ah Li will die!" The Flaming Destruction Sword shone with a dangerous light as he casually waved it around, causing flags in the camp to fall.

Helian Peng’s cheek muscles twitched and he wiped away some blood from his mouth. He said coldly, “I am curious about how powerful Prince Dingwang is!” As he spoke, countless black-clad soldiers poured out of every corner of the camp toward Mo Xiuyao. These people were trained by Helian Peng himself and their skills did not differ much from those of Qilin. But since the Northern Rong people were naturally bloodthirsty, this massacre only fueled their rage. They charged at Mo Xiuyao without hesitation.

But then Mo Xiuyao let out a loud cry as he dashed toward the crowd like a white rainbow, leaving behind a trail of blood and severed limbs.

Though Ya Zi managed to restrain Mo Xiuyao temporarily, Ye Liye and Helian Zhen’s expressions became even more grim. Helian Zhen was already pale from excessive bleeding and his eyes were dark with despair after being injured by Mo Xiuyao.

Helian Peng did not care about these specially trained soldiers like Ye Li did, but they were still superior to ordinary soldiers. Even though there were only a thousand of them, losing nearly one hundred men due to Ye Li had given him some insight into his opponent. But in an instant, Mo Xiuyao had already killed almost that many, leaving Helian Peng’s face grim.

Helian Zhen said coldly, "No matter what, we must not let Mo Xiuyao leave here today!"

Mo Xiuyao was too much of a threat. Though he had once felt不甘心 (unwilling) for losing to the teenage Mo Xiuyao eighteen years ago and blamed his own carelessness, this encounter completely shattered his beliefs. Now, there was no way Helian Zhen could handle him; the feeling of death he experienced that instant was unlike anything from before. If he couldn’t defeat Mo Xiuyao, then he would have to kill him by any means necessary!

The Northern Rong soldiers watching were terrified by the scene. The current situation was more shocking than a battlefield, where everyone fought regardless of casualties. But now they watched this one-sided massacre helplessly. Those black-clad men who seemed formidable in their eyes were like wooden chickens next to Mo Xiuyao. Snowflakes fell on his snow-white clothes and cold bloodthirsty face, adding to the killing aura. It was as if a bloody demon had emerged from hell.

"Aaaah… Kill this devil!" Finally, someone couldn’t bear it anymore and lunged at him with their weapon. But before they could touch his clothes, a sword aura sliced them in half.

“Bowmen, shoot!” Ye Liye ordered coldly. Though the black-clad Ya Zi might be able to restrain Mo Xiuyao or exhaust him until he died, this was only under the condition that Mo Xiuyao did not run away. More importantly, who knew how many lives of Ya Zi it would take Perhaps two thousand They didn’t have so many people; once all their black-clad men were dead, they too would face Flaming Destruction Sword’s blade.

Arrows rained down as if a sudden storm had begun. Though aimed at Mo Xiuyao, the distance between them was too close and he moved unpredictably. Mo Xiuyao laughed coldly before grabbing one of the black-clad men and throwing him into the air like a hedgehog covered in arrows. Turning around, his sword aura caused the arrows to deflect back towards their shooters.

"Ye Liye, you’re courting death!" Mo Xiuyao said coldly.

“Protect Prince Seven!” Everyone panicked as dozens of people rushed to block Mo Xiuyao’s enraged sword. But only three or four remained beside Ye Liye when the attack hit them. Luckily, a barrage of arrows from behind distracted Mo Xiuyao before he could kill Ye Liye. Though saved, Ye Liye was pale and looked at Helian Zhen with a bitter smile; neither dared to give any more orders.

“How powerful is Mo Xiuyao’s martial skill” Ye Liye muttered as he stared at the white-haired man.

Holding his wound, Helian Peng leaned against the entrance of the tent. His pale face and dizziness were due to excessive blood loss. Though Helian Peng didn’t value these specially trained men like Ye Li did, they still differed from ordinary soldiers. With only a thousand people at most under his command, losing nearly one hundred already was a blow. “How can I not look grim”

Helian Zhen said coldly, "No matter what, we mustn’t let Mo Xiuyao leave here today!"

Mo Xiuyao’s threat was too great; he had once felt不甘心 for losing to teenage Mo Xiuyao eighteen years ago but now knew he couldn’t handle him. The feeling of death that moment was unlike anything before, so if he could not defeat Mo Xiuyao, then he must kill him by any means necessary!

The soldiers watching were terrified as they witnessed this bloody scene; the sight of those once formidable black-clad men being easily defeated by the white-haired man made them fear for their own lives. Snowflakes fell on his snow-white clothes and cold bloodthirsty face, adding to the killing aura.

"Aaaah… Kill this devil!" Someone finally lost it and lunged at him only to be cut in half by a sword aura before touching him.

“Bowmen, shoot!” Ye Liye ordered as arrows rained down on Mo Xiuyao. But his unpredictable movements made them target everyone indiscriminately. Laughing coldly, Mo Xiuyao threw one black-clad man into the air like a hedgehog and deflected incoming arrows back towards their shooters.

"Ye Liye, you’re courting death!" Mo Xiuyao said as he faced the barrage of arrows from behind.

Mosixiao retracted his sword and looked unhappily at Feng Zhirao and Han Mingyue, who had just landed before him. "Who asked you to meddle" Han Mingyue merely smiled without saying a word. He only came along to help Feng Zhirao and knew that Mosixiao wouldn’t appreciate his efforts, so he decided not to say anything.

Feng Zhirao was furious; it would take very little for him to lose his temper completely. He grabbed onto Mosixiao and shouted, "Stop standing here! Are you planning on dying here!" Generally speaking, Feng Zhirao could never actually grab hold of Mosixiao. However, after venting all his rage by slaughtering hundreds of the Northern Rong’s top warriors, his anger had subsided somewhat, and he was starting to feel rather exhausted as well. Even if Mosixiao really was the greatest martial artist in the world, he still wasn’t invincible and hadn’t remained completely unscathed after killing all those men today. He only wanted to vent out his rage on the Northern Rong soldiers as a warning but didn’t actually plan on sacrificing himself. Regardless of whether Feng Zhirao and Han Mingyue had come or not, Mosixiao was planning on leaving shortly anyway.

When he found that Feng Zhirao wouldn’t let go, Mosixiao no longer hesitated and disdainfully glanced at Yelü Ye before saying, "Let’s leave."

Saying this, Feng Zhirao led the way out of the main gate using his lightness kungfu.

"Mosixiao!" Upon seeing that look of disdain in Feng Zhirao’s eyes, Yelü Ye immediately flew into a rage and shouted, “Kill them!”

Behind, Han Mingyue sighed helplessly as he unsheathed his sword to block the arrows heading towards him. Then, with a leap, he followed after Mosixiao.

Feng Zhirao dared to lead Mosixiao straight into the heart of the Northern Rong camp and naturally wouldn’t be unprepared for this. Even though they were still being chased by the Northern Rong army once outside the camp, it didn’t take long before the Black Cloud Cavalry from the Mosi Army greeted them with a full battalion of troops ready to fight.

Mosixiao and his companions entered the ranks of the Mosi Army where they turned around to face the chasing Northern Rong army in an opposing stance.

"Mosixiao, there will come a day when I kill you!" Seeing him sitting on horseback with blood-stained white clothes, Yelü Ye shouted furiously. With a cold chuckle, Mosixiao pointed his sword at Yelü Ye and said, "I was actually planning to say the same to you today! Today, I’m going to give you all a lesson. If anything like this happens again, your lives will be forfeit! Now go back!"

Watching Mosixiao leave with his troops surrounding him, Yelü Ye’s face turned ashen. "Return," he ordered.

When they returned to camp, it was found that over two hundred ordinary soldiers and nearly five hundred of the specially trained睚眥(Yaizi) had been killed or wounded by Mosixiao. The swordsman’s sword could cut through iron like butter; even if his attack didn’t hit any vital points, anyone struck by its aura would be left seriously injured. These men wouldn’t recover from their injuries and would never return to the battlefield again. This wasn’t the worst of it either. With hundreds of thousands of soldiers under his command, a mere hundred or so casualties could easily be overlooked. The worst part was that this massacre had instilled fear into every soldier within the Northern Rong army. A single man, who had already killed over two hundred of their best warriors today, had been able to move freely through hundreds of thousands of troops without any hindrance. This had greatly affected how the Northern Rong soldiers felt about the reputation and name of the Mosi Army.

"Your Highness," Helian Peng said as he knelt before Yelü Ye in the main tent. Though he was heavily injured, his face looked exhausted from not having rested properly after being wounded. "What do you wish to say" asked a cold Yelü Ye. After all, today’s incident had happened because of Helian Peng’s decision to fight against Ye Li. Originally, Yelü Ye wasn’t in favor of this either, but he didn’t really oppose it since the chances of success were so low and there would be serious consequences for those who attempted.

Indeed, once Helian Peng failed, Mosixiao had responded with such a furious attack. They weren’t just losing several hundred lives today; their morale was also being greatly affected. It might take quite a few huge victories to restore this lost confidence.

Hearing that, Helian Peng remained silent and said while bowing his head in apology, "I have nothing else to say. Please punish me."

Yelü Ye stared at him for a while before sighing and saying, “Never mind. You’ve been wounded, so get up and rest.” Though Yelü Ye was unhappy with Helian Peng right now, he wouldn’t cut off his own arm here. He waved his hand to signal Helian Peng to stand up again. Helian Peng thanked him and got back on his feet.

Yelü Ye looked at Helian Zhen sitting nearby and asked, “Uncle, what do you think”

Helian Zhen had remained silent since they returned to camp but finally sighed. "I didn’t expect that Mosixiao would have changed so much in such a short time period. Your Highness, unless we eliminate him completely, he will always be a great threat to us."

"Uncle, you are correct," said Yelü Ye while frowning. “But there are countless people who want to get rid of Mosixiao and yet none have succeeded. Besides, today’s Mosixiao isn’t the same one from years ago.” When he was young, the Prince Regent still had a lot of obstacles in his way. The royal family could take advantage of this and strike him down, but they missed their chance since the snake wasn’t dead back then. This allowed Mosixiao to grow into today’s biggest enemy of the Northern Rong army. In addition, the current Prince Regent now answered only to himself after breaking away from Chu Kingdom. Furthermore, everyone in his army was united and there were no weak points.

Helian Zhen lowered his head and said, "Today it looks like the only weakness of the Prince Regent is Ye Li."

"Uncle! No!" shouted Yelü Ye sternly.

Helian Zhen was stunned for a moment. He looked at Yelü Ye with confusion. With a bitter smile, he said, "Uncle, haven’t you learned anything from today’s incident It would be useless to try something against Ye Li again. Unless Mosixiao is dead, no one else will dare to touch her." Today, Mosixiao made it very clear that anyone who dared to harm Ye Li would be killed even if he had to die for it too. Luckily, this was only a warning today; otherwise, they wouldn’t have been able to escape after killing Mosixiao.

Those in power always like to say that they don’t mind paying any cost to achieve their goal, but this is simply not true. What good would there be in killing Mosixiao if he has already lost his life Would there really be benefits in destroying the Prince Regent’s army Who else could benefit from it

Helian Zhen pondered for a while before sighing and saying, "I didn’t expect that the Prince Regent would actually be a lovebird."

Hearing this, Helian Peng stood up and said to Yelü Ye, “Your Highness, may I please lead troops to Lingjiu Mountain”

Yelü Ye frowned. "You still want to fight against Lady Ye" he asked.

"I won’t dare," replied Helian Peng. “But since she’s currently in charge of the camp at Lingjiu Mountain, we need someone there as well. She is very intelligent and strategic; I don’t think anyone else could be a match for her.”

Yelü Ye thought about it before nodding. "That would work too. After you recover from your wounds, go ahead. But do not provoke Lady Ye again," he said.

Hearing that, Helian Peng agreed and added that his injuries weren’t serious; he could leave tomorrow already.

"You may leave then," Yelü Ye waved his hand without saying anything else.

Back at the Mosi Army camp, Feng Zhirao’s imposing figure stood before the main seat where Prince Regent was calmly bandaging his own wounds. He glared with rage and spat out some extremely harsh words that would make any ordinary person feel ashamed to live.

However, after venting so much anger on the Northern Rong army, Mosixiao’s mood had improved significantly. He didn’t care about Feng Zhirao’s insults at all and bandaged his wounds himself without asking for help. He only ignored his other minor injuries.

"Third Young Master Feng, when did you become such a nag Can’t you stop complaining" After bandaging his wound, Mosixiao raised his head to glance coldly at Feng Zhirao and said calmly.

The Young Master Feng was speechless and even more furious. He roared, "Moxiu Yao, if you want to die, don't drag the entire Ding王府 down with you! If you have such great martial arts skills as the King of Ding, why don't you go kill Yelü Yebei and Leizhenting Why not even kill Mo Jingli It would be better for everyone in this world if they all died. Of course, after you’ve killed them, make sure to cut your own throat too." By the end, The Young Master Feng was laughing spitefully at Moxiu Yao with a malicious sneer on his face.

"Nonsense," said Moxiu Yao coolly.

The Young Master Feng was enraged and picked up something from nearby to throw at Moxiu Yao. He then slammed the table and left, "If you want to die, go ahead. I’m done here!"說完,他怒氣沖沖地往外走。幸好帳子裡隻有韓明月和韓明晰兄弟兩人,如果讓墨家軍的眾將領看到這一幕,鳳之遙一個以下犯上的罪名是跑不了了。

Moxiu Yao frowned and casually caught the object that The Young Master Feng threw. "Stop right there, where do you think you’re going"

“I’m going to Lingjiu Mountain!”

"If you go looking for A Li, I’ll break your legs," said Moxiu Yao with a cold voice: “Alright, that’s it for today. I know what happened and will deal with it appropriately. It was only meant as a lesson for Yelü Yebei but he won’t come back again. You’re all tired too, go rest.” Finished speaking, he waved his hand and left the main tent in an elegant manner, leaving The Young Master Feng stunned in place. After long moments of silence, The Young Master Feng shouted at Moxiu Yao, “Moxiu Yao! I saved your life and you want to break my legs!” That’s what it means for a man to be without conscience when dealing with women. This was the case now. What does it mean to stab brothers in the back for one's wife Look no further than King Ding.

Han Mingyue and Han Mingchi exchanged glances and sympathetically patted The Young Master Feng on his shoulder before leaving.

What happened at the main camp of the Mo army wouldn’t reach Ye Li’s ears because of Prince Ding’s stern command that amounted to a threat. That day, Ye Li arrived at Lingjiu Mountain with Qin Feng and company as soon as night fell. Since it wasn’t the main battlefield, only the Flying Phoenix Pass was nearby. There weren’t many troops in the Ding王府 so there were no large forces stationed here either. Only Zhou Min, who used to be a sub-commander under Zhang Qilan, led 50,000 of Mo’s army and an additional 50,000 former Chu soldiers.

Ye Li didn’t notify them in advance so no one came out to greet her when she arrived. But what Ye Li saw outside the camp was enough to make her frown. It should have been late at night by now and all the guards of the Mo army should be asleep. However, a clamor could still be heard from inside the camp before they even got close. This wasn’t caused by anything serious happening in the military but rather soldiers drinking and fooling around. Ye Li’s pretty face darkened.

Zhuo Jing and company were all originally Dark Guards with no experience in the army, while Qin Feng used to be part of Black Cloud Cavalry which was even stricter than ordinary Mo soldiers. They had never seen anything like this before so they looked rather unhappy as well. Yun Ting and Chen Yun both came from military backgrounds so Yun Ting coughed lightly and said softly, "My Lady, these aren’t the Mo army troops but soldiers we’ve gathered after reclaiming Chu’s lost territories." Yun Ting used to be in the Chu Army and although General Meng Mu was strict with discipline, there were still some who would pretend to follow orders while secretly disobeying. He had also heard about many cases of lackluster military discipline. After being defeated by the Northern Rong, these former soldiers from Chu had become nothing but bandits if not for Mo’s army gathering them in. Yun Ting wasn’t surprised at all at this situation.

Ye Li quickly figured out what was happening: The camp of Lingjiu Mountain was managed by both Mo and Chu troops. Since the remaining Chu soldiers were far inferior to Mo’s military, some might give up hope completely and act recklessly. Zhou Min had just taken over here so he wouldn’t be able to control them well either.

Suppressing her anger, Ye Li said coolly, “Let’s go have a look.”

The guards who were originally drinking stopped when they saw the group approach and asked sternly, “Who are you”

Ye Li answered solemnly, "Where is General Zhou"

When he saw there was even a beautiful young woman in their midst, one of the guards looked down on them. He waved his hand and said, “This place is strictly military territory; how can you women ask questions here Get out.”

"How dare you!" Qin Feng thundered: "Ding Wangfei has arrived and General Zhou should come to greet her immediately."

The guards were taken aback and after sizing them up, they burst into laughter. “You’re saying that she’s Ding Wangfei A weak girl like this actually dares to impersonate her—what audacity! I think you’re spies for the Northern Rong!” It must be said that people in Chu didn’t know Ding Wangfei very well despite how famous she was, and Ye Li looked too frail at night to be a powerful woman.

"If she’s Ding Wangfei, then I’m King Ding," one of the guards boasted.

“How dare you!” Qin Feng turned red with anger. Before the guard could even see what he did, his throat was already being held by a blade that came from nowhere. Qin Feng sneered coldly, "You have quite some guts. Do you want to die"

The other guards were so shocked at this sudden turn of events that they didn’t know what happened and started yelling in alarm even forgetting the signals for attacks or battles.

Soon enough, there was more commotion inside the camp as soldiers rushed out. When they saw it wasn’t an enemy force but a few handsome men and women at the entrance, they were all taken aback and didn’t know what to do. A drunken commander finally walked over and one of the guards hurriedly reported to him, “Commander, these people are impersonating Ding Wangfei and want to enter the camp…”

"Wh-what How dare you…" The commander was about to yell when a piece of black jade was shoved under his nose. Zhuo Jing said coldly, "Take a look."

His eyes widened as he looked at the powerful-looking Ding character on the black jade and his legs almost gave out. “Ding…Ding Wangfei”

Ye Li stepped forward and glanced at him coolly. "Who are you Where is General Zhou"

The commander rushed to answer, "This one… This one used to be the general of Luzhou City in Chu, Sun Yaowu. General Zhou’s camp is about ten miles away from here." It turned out that since Zhou Min and Sun Yaowu were ordered to guard this place together, the relationship between Mo soldiers and these remaining troops was very strained. These soldiers had been defeated so badly by Northern Rong forces in battle that they weren’t useful on the battlefield either. If it wasn’t for fear of them becoming bandits who would harm civilians, they might have already dismissed them.

Zhou Min just took over and didn’t have much authority yet. He could control Mo soldiers well with their strict discipline but the remaining Chu troops were a problem since he couldn’t manage them. So Zhou Min only had his 50,000 Mo soldiers guard this area while sending the other 50,000 Chu troops to camp ten miles away from here. This wasn’t very difficult since Flying Phoenix Pass was nearby and still had over 200,000 of Yuan Pei’s forces stationed there.

Even Ye Li was furious at this situation. If not for her insistence on coming to Lingjiu Mountain, the first place where problems would have started was here if they had continued with war in the future.

"This one didn’t know of Your Lady’s arrival and couldn’t welcome you properly, forgive me," Sun Yaowu said humbly. “Please go rest inside and I’ll send someone to fetch General Zhou.” This commander wasn’t a great soldier but was skilled at flattering people. Ye Li wasn’t pleased by this so she was about to refuse when an orderly set of horse hooves could be heard in the distance. As they approached, Sun Yaowu hurriedly reported to his superior, “Commander, these people are impersonating Ding Wangfei and want to enter the camp…”

"What How dare you…" The commander was about to yell when a piece of black jade was shoved under his nose.

If it wasn not for fear of them becoming bandits who would harm civilians, they might have already dismissed them.

"This one didn't know of Your Lady's arrival and couldn't welcome you properly, forgive me," Sun Yaowu said humbly. "Please go rest inside and I'll send someone to fetch General Zhou."

Soon, a middle-aged man rode up on horseback, dismounted at the entrance, and knelt before Ye Li with one knee, saying, "This one is Zhou Min, reporting to Ding Wangfei."

Come give me a hug, dear readers!ere pain. The sight of a usually composed and elegant man showing such vulnerability in his agony made Ye Li finally shed tears. She had never hated her own powerlessness more than now, having sworn to...
